A11y Lawsuit

Purpose

Report on a ongoing or historical web accessibility case.

Instructions

  1. Find an article about a lawsuit involving website accessibility. Find something recent, if possible.

  2. Upload a document with a link to the article and answer the following questions:

    1. What accessibility violation caused the lawsuit?
    2. Did the company take any steps to resolve the accessibility issue?
    3. What is your opinion on the lawsuit? Was it justified? Why or why not.
    4. If there was a resolution, do you feel it was fair? 
    5. If there was not a resolution, what actions do you believe should be taken?
    6. Do you think anything particular could have prevented this lawsuit from taking place?

Submission

  1. Open the Week 12 folder in Blackboard

  2. Click on the A11y Lawsuit submission link.

  3. Upload a document (MS Word, txt, or PDF) containing the answers to the above 6 questions.

  4. Click Submit.

Grading Criteria

Points Possible: 4

  • Questions Answered Accessibility lawsuit was investigated and reviewed. Thoughtful analysis of the violation and consequence was discussed, including student's personal opinion. Multiple sources were used for analysis.
