Heuristic Evaluation

Figma Design

Purpose

Explore and practice evaluating UI heuristics by critiquing a website related to your project genre.

Instructions

  1. Choose a website that is similar to your project website and can complete the same key task. Ideally, you want to pick a website with some flaws so you have the opportunity to find improvements. You may use one of the websites in the Project 1 Discovery document that your team reviewed as a competitor.

  2. Spend time reviewing the website, walking through the key task (without actually purchasing something), and noting any difficulties or potential improvements.

  3. Pick five heuristics to review in detail.

  4. Use the Week 7: Heuristic Evaluation page in the Unit 2 Files in Figma, record your findings by indicating if the listed criteria are met. Explain in the space provided how the requirements were met or not met.

  5. Watch this week's Heuristic Evaluation Video for details on how to work in the Figma template.

Download the below Posters for more tips and ideas on what to look for during your evaluation.

Grading Criteria

Points Possible: 5

A suggestion on improving a poorly executed or missing criteria is included when appropriate.
