Team Charter

Group Assignment
Figma Design

Purpose

Develop a clear plan for working together as a group. A team charter is used to define the team's purpose, how it will work, and what the expected outcomes are. Building a shared understanding of how you will work together is essential to the success of any team.

Instructions

  1. In Figma, double-click on your Project 1 Design file.
  2. Click on the 01. Team Charter page.
  3. Complete the following sections:
    • Team Roles: Depending on your team size, you may not have enough team members for each role. If this is the case, you may need to double up on some roles.
    • Team Goals: Goals should focus on desired project outcome (grade/score) and performance objectives of individuals.
    • Conflict Management: Expect some level of conflict; this is normal in any team! Set clear expectations of how the team will handle any conflict. However, assume good intentions for every team member and approach any conflict with understanding and compassion. Some things to include in this section are: addressing if some group members are not pulling their weight, if some members are dominating ideas or conversation, or if there is general disagreement within the group. It is important to spend time defining these and other potential issues now. Ensure you address failure to comply with the “Working Agreement” here.
    • Working Agreement: This section will summarize how you plan to work together. When do you plan on turning in weekly work? How are you planning to communicate regularly? I recommend setting a check-in date each week.
    • Participation: Move the red circle to "No" if some team member did not contribute to the working agreement.

Submission

Only 1 Team Member needs to submit group assignments. Blackboard will send out an email to all group members notifying them of successful submission.

  1. Export the completed Team Charter (both pages) as a PDF from Figma. (see the Exporting Figma Assignments video)
  2. Open the Week 2 folder in Blackboard
  3. Click on the Team Charter submission link.
  4. Under Attach Files, click the Browse Local Files to find, select and upload your PDF document.
  5. Click Submit.

Grading Criteria

  • Conflict management demonstrates thought and planning went into many different scenarios, including if members do not participate, have poor attitude or produce sub-quality work. The management plan lists steps to address conflict while encouraging communication, openness, and debate among group members.
  • The Working Agreement is specific, realistic, and timely. The team has documented a clear plan for weekly group expectations, meetings, and due dates.
