Rebrand it!

What if Crown Coffee wasn’t a cozy café in Madison... but instead a neon-lit tea bar, a robot-run espresso lab, or a 90s-themed coffee cart on wheels?

In this challenge, you’ll reimagine and rebrand the existing Crown Coffee website to fit a totally new concept—without rebuilding the entire project. You’ll keep your original file and folder structure, but you'll tweak the design and language to reflect a fresh identity.

Instructions

1. Pick a style

Pick one of the sample rebranding ideas below, or come up with your own:

  • A 90s-themed coffee cart
  • A futuristic robot-run espresso bar
  • A minimalist Japanese-style tea house
  • A cozy bookstore café
  • A punk rock donut & espresso shack

(Feel free to go wild!)

2. Copy Project 2

So you don't lose your project work, make a copy of Project 2 and rename it RebrandItChallenge. Since I don't expect you to have Project 3 complete at this point, please use your completed Project 2 for this challenge.

3. Rebrand the Website

Open your Project 2 files and make small but meaningful changes to reflect your new brand:

  • Update the site title, headings, and main text to reflect the new name and vibe (maybe find a new logo!).
  • Change the color palette in CSS to match your concept (think mood, tone, aesthetic)
  • Optional: Replace 1–2 images (like the logo or homepage image) to better reflect your theme
  • Keep all HTML structure and file names the same
  • The overall layout can remain the same!

4. Reflection

Create a new file called rebrand-reflection.txt or rebrand-reflection.docx and write a short reflection:

  • Describe your new brand or theme.
  • What made the rebranding process fun or easy?
  • What was challenging about applying your new theme to an existing structure? What, if anything, could have made it easier?
  • Did you have to compromise any ideas to make it work?

How to Submit

Zip up your new RebrandItChallenge website and upload it to the submission link in Brightspace under Challenges > Rebrand It!
